Needless to say, this kind of comparison is useless. When Scherlokk compared the files, it showed me only the unique word from file B. File A had one unique word and file B had another unique word. For a private use, the license can be used for installing on all the Macs in. First, I had to convert Rich Text Files to plain text to see differences. And finally, you are supposed to be able to compare two files and find differences in them with Scherlokk. It's neither possible to save a search nor the search results. As a comparison, it took 'Find Any File' only 20 seconds to find the said folder! I used the search term "Dickens", and it took Scherlook (v.3.6.1) 2.5 minutes to find this folder together with 159 other items (that I don't need). I have a folder called "(1812 – 1870) Charles Dickens". Once I've found and opened a folder, I pretty quickly retrieve manually the individual file I'm looking for. Since Alfred uses Spotlight, I receive the search results almost instantaneously. This drive is now almost full (only 20 GB empty.) The fastest way to find stuff on such a disk is to restrict the search in Alfred to folders only. It seems it can't find folders only (like for example 'Find Any File' can do.) The majority of my data is stored on a 4 TB external drive. I'm not sure what this application is good for. It uses a sophisticated algorithm for finding similar blocks in both files and shows them as a list of differences. Scherlokk can compare any files (text or binary) and displays their differences, taking into account insertions or deletions. Which files can Scherlokk find? Because Scherlokk is not based upon the Spotlight's index, and has its own, powerful search engine, it will find every single file on any accessible volume in your computer. Scherlokk shows search results in a flat or hierarchical view which helps to find out which file is the one you need and how files are located in the folders structure.Extremely fast search engine finds your files quicker than competition. The index is not always up to date and does not contain all files. Scherlokk searches through 'real' files instead of the Spotlight's index. ![]() ![]() When searching with size range, Scherlokk calculates and displays all folders which fit in the range. For documents or data files, content can be specified. Specify the kind of searched file(s) (music, movie, picture, etc.) or some of the file attributes (size, date, etc.). The file does not even need to be indexed by OS X to be found by Scherlokk. It does not matter if the searched file is hidden or system. Search can be done on any kind of built-in volume, portable volume (memory cards, USB drives), network drive (AFP, SMB, FTP), Thunderbolt or Firewire device (CD/DVD, external HDD, slave computer), etc. Music, pictures, bookmarks, documents, etc. Scherlokk is a lightning fast file search utility built for precise and reliable search of every file that meets the search criteria.
